Trade your culture

The project entitled “Trade your culture” is a multilateral international youth exchange implemented under Youth in Action program, on action 1.1. The project brings together 32 young participants, with ages from 16 to 25 years old from 5 countries in Europe - Romania, Estonia, Irland, Poland and Sweden - to work together in Pucioasa, Dâmboviţa County in Romania, on the topic of culture and traditions. 

The aim of the project is to raise awareness towards other cultures - confronting youngsters from five different cultural areas in Europe- in order to develop solidarity and sense of tolerance and foster cooperation among European youngsters. For 10 days, beginning on 10th until 19th of April 2010, the participants involved in the project will cope with the program activities built according to their needs and interests and the socio-cultural situation in East, West and Northern Europe. 

The activities in the program are meant to give the young participants a new perspective of addressing cultural diversity in a direct light, by using non-formal educational methods in a creative and innovative way. The predominant tool used in this purpose is media instruments, the youngsters being divided into workshops which will have as a final result a media product that will offer them an efficient medium of communication and expression of their attitudes and learning outcomes towards the cultural diversity and unity. The media products will be at the same a good tool for multiplying effect and raise awareness towards both this project and the Youth in Action programme, for a large public, especially formed of young citizens of Europe.
